She wasn’t in court Friday, but the woman who claims to be James Brown’s widow wants a judge to order paternity tests for the six children the Godfather of Soul named in his will as heirs if here son has to be tested.
An affidavit signed by Tomi Rae Brown singled out three of Brown’s adult children Darryl, Yamma and Larry Brown.
Louis Levenson, who represents five of the six names heirs and their children, is objecting to the DNA testing. He calls it an unnecessary and costly expense.
There was also some revealing testimony concerning Brown’s former trustees.
For the first time it came out that former trustee Buddy Dallas hired another trustee to replace David Cannon after Cannon stepped down in August. It was also revealed that Dallas moved Brown’s trust from South Carolina to Georgia without letting anyone know.
But when Judge Jack Early asked why he failed to tell the court, Dallas said he was scared the judge would be angry with him and turning over 24 years of documents has been hell on earth. But Judge Early was furious, saying with all due respect it’s hell you’ve created.
Former Trustee David Cannon is looking to hire new attorneys. Both his lawyers asked the judge to remove them from the case. The judge granted their request.
