As reported in the Chicago Daily Tribune, a state Appellate Court ruled in favor of Michael Jordan in his dispute with former lover, Karla Knafel who contends that the retired superstar owes her $5 million.
Knafel contends that Jordan promised her the money for remaining silent and agreeing not to file a paternity suit after she learned she was pregnant in 1991.
Jordan denied making the promise and sued Knafel in 2002. A DNA Paternity test later showed that Jordan was not the father of the child.
The 1st District Appellate Court in Chicago ruled that even if Jordan made the agreement, the deal was unenforceable because Knafel had misled him about whether he was the child’s father. The ruling affirmed a trial judge’s decision last year.
Knafel’s lawyer Blake Hannafan said Wednesday that he was surprised by the decision and will ask the Illinois Supreme Court to review the case.

As reported in the Patriot News, Col. Scott Carlson, who is charged in an alleged paternity test scam, came before Cumberland County Judge Skip Ebert to explain why he didn’t appear for his court hearing on a $12,000 child support delinquency.
Although Senior Assistant District Attorney Derek Clepper argued the no-show was deliberate and that Carlson, 51, a former Army War College student, should be jailed, Carlson’s defense attorney Laurence Kress insisted his failure to appear resulted from miscommunication.
Judge Ebert didn’t find Carlson in contempt, but told him he didn’t buy his excuse.
“You’re a colonel. You’re used to getting your way,” Ebert scolded. “That doesn’t apply in this courtroom. Don’t play games with me, you understand?”
“Yes, your honor,” Carlson replied.
Carlson and another former War College student, Bruce Adkins, 44, are charged with forgery and other criminal counts for allegedly swapping places in March to try to fool a paternity test Carlson was supposed to take.
The test was ordered because a Virginia woman sought a boost in child support for her 9-year-old daughter. Carlson had been paying support for the child without a court order.

According to AOL Celebrity website TMZ.com, Angela Nazario, a former Raiderette cheerleader, has filed a Paternity Suit against Larry Fitzgerald Jr. The 24 year-old Wide Receiver for the Arizona Cardinals has admitted hooking up with Nazario, but is not ready to agree to anything unless he is proved to be the father.
37 year-old Nazario’s child is due to be born in early January 2008. Fitzgerald has asked that a DNA Paternity test be performed after the child is born. The Paternity Suit seeks child support for Nazario which Fitzgerlad says that he will provide, if he is determined to be the father. The filed documents indicate that the couple have no plans to marry.
Larry Fitzgerald Jr.’s blog at www.larry-fitzgerald.com has no mention of the pending case.
