Larry Birkhead Moving to Kentucky with Anna Nicole Smith’s Daughter

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

As reported by People Magazine:

Paternity test winner Larry Birkhead (35) is moving out of Los Angeles. The father of the late Anna Nicole Smith’s 21-month-old daughter Dannielynn has bought a 10,000 square foot six-bedroom home in Louisville, Kentucky, his former hometown.

Larry Birkhead, who was confirmed by a DNA Paternity test to be the father of baby Dannielynn after a heated paternity debate between him and Anna Nicole Smith’s lawyer and companion Howard Stern, spoke to People Magazine about the purchase of the house, telling the magazine that the house is still very much a work in progress, a fact that doesn’t deter him at all.

According to Larry Birkhead, the house, which has never been fully restored has 40-foot ceilings and is
modeled after a Sicilian church. Larry told People that the house, “Looks like a haunted house.” We’re
sure that haunted house feeling is just what Dannielynn needs to feel cozy in her new digs!
Larry Birkhead continued, “When I walked in, I said to myself, ‘This is our home.’”

Larry is hoping that the new house is a fresh start for himself and his young daughter, as the old house
in Los Angeles is filled with memories of Anna Nicole Smith and her son Daniel, both whose lives were
cut tragically short in drug related deaths.

Said Birkhead of the LA home, “At first, I couldn’t imagine parting with it. Then I realized I was
probably holding on to it for the wrong reasons, thinking to myself that would ease the pain of losing
Anna and Daniel. I have always thought that it would be great for Dannielynn to grow up in her
mother’s home; however, there is no yard as it is over a canyon.”

Birkhead concluded, “There also isn’t any little friends for her to run around with – which makes the
idea of Kentucky even more inviting.” We like the idea of Dannielynn having plenty of little friends to
run around with. Hopefully she will enjoy her new home and stay very far away from the sorts of drama
that surrounded the beginning of her life.

Paternity test shows James Brown fathered boy

Monday, May 5th, 2008

As reported by The Associated Press

Although the results of the court-ordered test have not been released, an attorney for the 6-year-old son of a woman who claimed to be James Brown’s wife when he died, says an independent DNA test confirms the soul singer fathered the child.

Peter Shahid, an attorney for James Brown II’s guardian, told the Associated Press on Friday that the boy was tested in April before a South Carolina judge ordered a paternity test.

Brown II is the son of Tomi Rae Hynie, a former backup singer for the Godfather of Soul.

Trustees handling Brown’s estate have suggested Hynie was not legally married to Brown and her boy is not his son. They were not mentioned in Brown’s will.

A call to a spokesman for Hynie and a message left for Brown’s trustees were not immediately returned.

The story was first reported by Art Harris, whose blog “The Bald Truth” is at http://www.artharris.com.

Brown died in Atlanta on Christmas Day 2006.

She wasn’t in court Friday, but the woman who claims to be James Brown’s widow wants a judge to order paternity tests for the six children the Godfather of Soul named in his will as heirs if here son has to be tested.

An affidavit signed by Tomi Rae Brown singled out three of Brown’s adult children Darryl, Yamma and Larry Brown.

Louis Levenson, who represents five of the six names heirs and their children, is objecting to the DNA testing. He calls it an unnecessary and costly expense.

There was also some revealing testimony concerning Brown’s former trustees.

For the first time it came out that former trustee Buddy Dallas hired another trustee to replace David Cannon after Cannon stepped down in August. It was also revealed that Dallas moved Brown’s trust from South Carolina to Georgia without letting anyone know.

But when Judge Jack Early asked why he failed to tell the court, Dallas said he was scared the judge would be angry with him and turning over 24 years of documents has been hell on earth. But Judge Early was furious, saying with all due respect it’s hell you’ve created.

Former Trustee David Cannon is looking to hire new attorneys. Both his lawyers asked the judge to remove them from the case. The judge granted their request.

Michael Jordan sues woman, alleging harassment

Monday, February 4th, 2008

As Reported in Chicago Business News Feb 1, 2008:

(Crain’s) — Michael Jordan is suing a Pennsylvania woman who says she was his mistress, asking a court to stop the woman from what he alleges is harassment.

In a complaint filed Wednesday in Pennsylvania’s Crawford County civil court, Mr. Jordan says that in June 2004, Lisa Miceli filed a complaint against Mr. Jordan to establish his paternity to her son, Dante Michael Miceli, and to require the basketball star to provide child support.

“Knowing that there was no basis whatsoever for Miceli’s allegation of paternity, Jordan immediately agreed to genetic testing,” the complaint says.

Tests proved Mr. Jordan is not the father, but Ms. Miceli pursued another genetic test, according to the lawsuit. She and Mr. Jordan then came to an agreement that if the new test confirmed he was not the father, she would drop the case and end any contact with him, the complaint says.

The second test also proved Mr. Jordan did not father the child. The case was withdrawn in July 2005, but court papers say Ms. Miceli violated the agreement by sending nearly 400 e-mails and notes to Mr. Jordan and his representatives, he alleges.

The content of her e-mails, notes and telephone calls “clearly demonstrates that she is seriously disturbed,” says the complaint.

Ms. Miceli publishes a blog in which she writes about what she says was her relationship with Mr. Jordan, detailing phone conversations and lashing out at his representatives.

Neither Mr. Jordan’s attorneys nor Ms. Miceli returned calls.

This isn’t the first time Mr. Jordan has been in court dealing with paternity issues.

An Indianapolis woman in 2003 alleged that Mr. Jordan made financial promises to her when she was pregnant with a child she alleged was his. Paternity tests showed he wasn’t the father.

In December, the Appellate Court of Illinois supported a lower court’s decision that the woman had no grounds to sue Mr. Jordan for money.

Tom Cruise Fuming Over Paternity Claims

Monday, January 28th, 2008

As reported by SFGate:Daily Dish from the World Entertainment News Network:

Tom Cruise is furious that a new unauthorized biography of him suggests his daughter Suri was fathered by late Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.

Andrew Morton’s book “Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography” makes a number of controversial claims about the actor’s personal life and his relationship with the Church of Scientology.

He alleges Scientology bosses urged him to end his marriage to Nicole Kidman, and one chapter includes the passage, “Some sect members believed that Katie Holmes was carrying the baby who would be the vessel for L. Ron Hubbard’s spirit when he returned around the galaxy.”

Cruise’s lawyer Bert Fields says, “He’s very angry. It’s so bizarre and grotesque to imply that Suri is fathered by the frozen sperm of L. Ron Hubbard. You just look at Suri, and you see Tom and Katie.”

Michael Jordan scores another court win over ex-lover

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

As reported in the Chicago Daily Tribune, a state Appellate Court ruled in favor of Michael Jordan in his dispute with former lover, Karla Knafel who contends that the retired superstar owes her $5 million.

Knafel contends that Jordan promised her the money for remaining silent and agreeing not to file a paternity suit after she learned she was pregnant in 1991.

Jordan denied making the promise and sued Knafel in 2002. A DNA Paternity test later showed that Jordan was not the father of the child.

The 1st District Appellate Court in Chicago ruled that even if Jordan made the agreement, the deal was unenforceable because Knafel had misled him about whether he was the child’s father. The ruling affirmed a trial judge’s decision last year.

Knafel’s lawyer Blake Hannafan said Wednesday that he was surprised by the decision and will ask the Illinois Supreme Court to review the case.
